Coming for real -- a better design!

June Update:

Ok, this is getting kind of funny, though not funny ha ha. The website IS being re-designed, but we're doing it ourselves.

Thanks to Zach for his consult and graphics work, which will help us along.

Yes, it really is gonna happen...

April Update:

The new website is coming along nicely.

Things got slowed down this winter due to technical issues, such as design and code work sadly being lost. Yes, this is why it pays to back stuff up...

The good news is that Zachary Halvorson is on the case and reconstructing things, making them even better when possible. Zach is graduating now from Inte at Cap U and must fit in this volunteer work on top of his full-time job.

Thanks, Zach!!!

January Update:

The re-design team at Capilano University's Interactive Design Program has been hard at work since last fall. So we should have a new website for you by late spring 2014.

Watch for more news soon about this talented 'Inte' team!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Earlier:

Volunteer-based indie websites with a ton of content - okay, that doesn't always go with flash design.

This site is 14 years old. Seriously. So we've had our 'light hidden under a bushel' for a long, long time. Visitors keep growing as the word spread, but there have never been resources to make the site look better.

But this summer, 2 great things have happened.

1. A pending sponsor will share student debt guide sales receipts with us. So there will soon and finally be some help funding this proudly-indie student debt helpsite!

That sponsor is True North Financial Education Group. The arrangement just got passed at our recent Student Finance 101 Society AGM.

Look for that logo soon - plus word about the guide books.

Update: As of January 30, 2014, the first book is out. It's just been posted on the site: Ka-ching!

2. The Interactive Design program at Capilano University will create a fresh web design for our Student Finance 101 website!

We're excited!

The new design will be created over the fall and winter of 2013-2014. When it's done, we'll migrate our vast site content so you can enjoy and our new look.

Which - of course - will be mobile friendly.

Capilano students might also kick in some content of their own, including video, by spring of next year.

Thank you very much, Capilano U INTE!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a bittersweet announcement, however.  Capilano's highly-respected Interactive Design program is fighting for survival, as we speak. The program will actually go on hold this coming school year. That means no new intake. The university will just let existing students complete their studies, do their community service projects and graduate.

There is a big story about education affordability behind this decision. We want to cover that separately.

But in the meantime, we wanted to share our excitement and gratitude for thse two opportunities to raise our indie student helpsite to another level!
