Grace Means Grace in Manitoba
Umm, I don’t mean grace, like at the dinner table. Though it’s surely as sincere in Manitoba as it would be anywhere else.
No, I mean those student-loan ‘grace periods’ after you graduate.
You see, my last blog reported that Manitoba had cut its student loan interest rate. So I wanted to mention another loan interest break for Manitoba students.
They get a ‘grace period’ worthy of its name.
Unlike Canada and most other provinces, Manitoba does not charge interest during the six months following graduation.
Instead, Manitoba Student Loans remain payment-free and interest-free during that 6-month grace period when grads are busy seeking jobs.
But Manitoba students, remember that your Canada loans will rack up interest during the grace period. Your province has no say over that.
BTW…
Canada’s phony grace period is one thing I’d change if I had magic powers over Ottawa.
Except, there’d be no grace period, phony or not, since education would be free.
